Visitor Attractions Manager – Franciscan Gardens Canterbury
Eastbridge, an almshouse charity, is seeking a Visitor Attractions Manager for The
Franciscan Gardens in Canterbury, site of the first Franciscan presence in the UK in
1224, which will be reopened to the public this year with new planting reflecting the
site’s history. It is anticipated this will form an important addition to Canterbury’s
heritage offer. Entrance to the gardens will be through a shop in St Peter’s Street
which will also sell gifts and souvenirs.
The post is an opportunity to join at the start of this exciting project and develop with
it, having a pivotal role in the promotion of the shop, the merchandise to be sold and
in recruitment of other staff and volunteers.
Candidates must have 3-5 years minimum experience in managing a customer
facing team in a visitor attraction or museum, a proven record of achieving financial
budgets and targets and excellent IT skills. The post will require knowledge of till
systems and cash handling.
Personal skills will include excellent communication with staff and visitors, the ability
to create and motivate a team of employees and volunteers, experience with HR
issues and Health and Safety regulations.
The salary will be commensurate with experience for this type of post. It is expected
the post will be full-time with the shop open on every day except Mondays between
9am and 5pm.
