Pilgrimage

A pilgrimage is a journey or search of moral or spiritual significance. Since 1180 when pilgrims came to Canterbury to visit the shrine of St Thomas Becket in the Cathedral, Eastbridge Hospital has been closely associated with welcoming pilgrims.

Canterbury Cathedral is the destination for those who travel along the pilgrim paths from Winchester and Rochester. It is also the beginning of the route to Santiago de Compostela in Spain and the Via Francigena to Rome.

There is more information on http://www.pilgrimswaycanterbury.org for those holding a Pilgrim Passport, we will be pleased to stamp it to show the progress of your journey.
