Almshouses and our residents
An Almshouse is a place supported by a charity offering accommodation to the aged or needy. The Eastbridge provides eight self-contained flats in parts of the building not open to the public. Our residents or Indwellers as they are called, live independently. They all have connections to the City of Canterbury and form a supportive lively Christian community.
The Master is responsible for the pastoral care of the Indwellers.
The Trustees are responsible for maintaining the Hospital buildings and there has been extensive restoration over the past 60 years, which is ongoing.
